Map of the Fjords & Bays Newfoundland Cruises

Cruise Itinerary - BWH472

Day

7-Day Fjords and Bays Cruise

Sunday

Corner Brook – Boarding takes place at Corner Brook followed by a day of sailing the Bay of Islands. This coastline was chartered by Captain James Cook in 1767 and not much has changed since then. The region enjoys spectacular natural scenery, isolated coves and islands yet to be settled. The ship is at anchor for the night and provides an excellent opportunity to explore for yourself some of these best kept secrets of Newfoundland’s west coast. Grab a paddle and explore a private shoreline or relax and enjoy the sunset.

Monday

Larke Harbour - As the ship sets sail for a leisurely cruise, keep an eye out for whales: humpbacks, minke, and pilot whales all frequent this area. Later in the afternoon, you will arrive to a warm welcome in the beautiful village of Lark Harbour, named after Captain Cook's ship, H.M.S. Lark. Get ready to experience a true "Scoff 'n Scuff" as the village entertains everyone to an evening of traditional food and revelry. Practice your "steps" and try to learn the difference between a “jig” and a “reel”.

Tuesday

Bay of Islands - Enjoy a quiet morning as the ship leisurely cruises the Bay of Islands. Later in the day, head to the beach for a bit of seclusion and ocean mist, or hit the trail and explore the Blow Me Down Mountains, the name says it all! If you want to get really active, go for an optional guided cave tour, or try rock climbing with the assistance of professional guides. The ship is at anchor for the evening.

Wednesday

Woody Point - In the morning, the ship sets sail for a day cruise out the Bay of Islands en route to the fjords of Gros Morne National Park. Grab a comfortable deckchair and enjoy the superb scenery. Early afternoon will find the ship dockside in the town of Woody Point at the base of the famous Tablelands in Bonne Bay. The evening will allow you time to explore the secrets of the Tablelands, "where the Earth shows its’ bones". A visit to the Discovery Center is the place to start. This is an excellent opportunity to find a special souvenir of the voyage with numerous gift shops located adjacent to the dock. The ship remains dockside for the evening.

Thursday

Bonne Bay & Norris Point - The morning is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the numerous hiking trails or take a quiet paddle along the coastline to see the many small communities located nearby. An optional tour includes a boat tour of the spectacular Trout River, a fresh water fjord carving through the Tablelands. Departing Woody Point in the afternoon, the ship sails through Bonne Bay and arrives later at Norris Point, a cozy village located on the north side of the Bay. Take some time to visit the Marine Biology Station located dockside and learn more about Memorial University’s marine research projects. The evening offers the perfect chance to catch live, outdoor theatre in the magical setting of Cow Head. The ship spends the night dockside.

Friday

Norris Point - Begin your day by exploring this remarkable region, home to a variety of wildlife, most significantly, moose, caribou, and the arctic hare. One of the best hikes to see wildlife in their natural habitat is the challenging Gros Morne Mountain. A guide is recommended but not necessary, however cameras are a must. Others may enjoy a boat tour into a land-locked freshwater fjord called Western Brook Pond followed by a visit to the sandy beaches of Cow Head. The ship spends the night dockside and for the last evening aboard the ship features a feast befitting of the grand adventure you have experienced in the past six days.

Saturday

Norris Point - Disembarking will take place in Norris Point. Optional tours are available providing a perfect transition point for your next adventure.
