Cruise the Highlands &
Islands of Scotland
Join us on board MV Lord of the Glens on this 10-night sheltered
water cruise on Scotland's beautiful north west coast and
through the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness
A land of history and folklore, tradition and heroes, Scotland
is shrouded in myths and clichés. But cut through the
tartan veil and you reveal a land of timeless mountains, deep
lochs, beautiful seas and deep blue skies, where great pubs,
warm people and ancient traditions come together to reveal
itself as an undiscovered gem indeed.

Timeless landscapes and tasteful ambience
Travelling on board MV Lord of the Glens, our luxuriously
appointed and purpose built vessel, we traverse the lochs
and waterways of the Caledonian Canal. Crossing Loch Dochfour,
Loch Ness and Loch Oich, we reach Neptune’s Staircase,
and pass through a flight of eight interconnected locks that
lower the vessel to sea level.
The relaxing and stately comfort of our floating hotel can
only add to the magnificence of the landscape we sail through,
and mooring overnight near to famous sights, you will have
plenty of opportunity to indulge in the land based activities
we have on offer.

Battlefields, forts and drams
We journey through the history and legends of this ancient
country; Inverness, the Bronze Age Clava Cairns, Fort William,
Fort Augustus, Fort George and the battlefield of Culloden,
where Bonnie Prince Charlie fought for the Scottish crown,
but inevitably witnessed the defeat of the Jacobite rebellion.
We also have the option of visiting Glencoe en route, as
well as enjoying the hospitality of some of northern Scotland’s
finest old pubs to indulge in a wee dram or two.
Islands and Highlands
On the islands of Skye, Mull and Iona, we will get a better
feel for the history of the clans, as well as Scottish myth
and spirituality, whilst looking out for dolphins, seals and
whales in the rich waters offshore.

Passing exotic trees and shrub species, we head for Ullapool
and Tobermory, famed for the brightly coloured painted façades
of many of their quayside houses. With ample photo opportunities
along the way, from the bleakly beautiful coasts and lochs,
to Urquhart castle and Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest
peak, this is a true journey of discovery in a land blessed
with a wealth of natural beauty and tradition.
