Itinerary
Day 1

Depart London Heathrow on scheduled flight to Cairo. On arrival transfer to the 5 star Movenpick Pyramids Resort Hotel in Giza for your two night stay.

Day 2

Morning guided excursion to the magnificent Pyramids and Sphinx for a close up view of these awe-inspiring monuments before taking an included lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon visit to the impressive Cairo Museum with its uncountable treasures including the death mask of Tutankhamun. Optional evening Sound and Light Show. (B,L)

Day 3

A day of leisure. Transfer to the station for your overnight sleeper train to Luxor in a two berth compartment with dinner and continental breakfast. (B,D) Alternatively, we recommend that you take an evening flight to Luxor for a one night stay at the Sheraton Hotel (or similar) on a room and breakfast basis (for an additional £129 per person). (B)

Day 4

Arrive early morning Luxor station. Guided visit to the Valley of the Kings - the site of Tutankhamun's Tomb. After a short drive, visit Deir El Bahri the impressive mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon once known as the ‘singing statues’. Transfer to the MS RA II for a five night cruise on a full board basis. Afternoon visit to the temple complexes of Luxor and Karnak - considered to be one of the world's greatest architectural masterpieces. Evening sail to Esna. (B,L,D)

Day 5

Morning visit to the temple of Edfu - dedicated to the falcon-headed God Horus. Sail to Aswan and overnight.(B,L,D)

Day 6

Morning excursion to the High Dam and by boat to the Temple of Philae which was dismantled, moved and reassembled on the island of Agilkai when it was threatened by the rising waters behind the dam wall. Afternoon visit to Kitchener Island with its beautiful botanical garden. (B,L,D)

Day 7

Morning free in Aswan. Take an optional excursion by air to Abu Simbel - one of the most amazing ancient sites and feat of modern technology. Sail to Kom Ombo and visit the temple dedicated to the crocodile God Sobek. Sail to Esna. (B,L,D)

Day 8

Pass through the lock at Esna and continue on to Luxor for free time. (B,L,D)

Day 9

Transfer to Luxor Airport for return flight to Heathrow. (B) Alternatively extend your stay - please call for details.

Please note that the exact sequence of sightseeing and sites visited may be altered to suit local conditions, the water level and lock closures. Due to mooring restrictions along the Nile, boats may have to tie up alongside each other. Key: B-Breakfast, L-Lunch, D-Dinner.
