Glacier Bay Adventure Cruise
High Activity Level
A 7day/6 night cruise
Activities and shore excursions included
The Ultimate Glacier Bay Experience. What awakens you every
morning at home? Surely not the calving of ice into the sea
or a humpback whale breaching? Sleeping in glorious Glacier
Bay is a luxury only available with these cruises.
Glacier Bay National Park, the eighth wonder of the world,
is a World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve. We spend
as much time here as possible exploring by sea kayak and also
on foot.
This is expedition-style adventure made easy as we have taken
care of all the details: backcountry permits, kayaks, gear,
accommodations and food. All you bring is your enthusiasm
and hearty sense of adventure. Each day you kayak with your
Guide and small group on an off-vessel exploration. Keep an
eye out for brown bear or moose. Return to your vessel where
a delicious meal, shower and good company await.

DAY 1
|
JUNEAU EMBARKATION
Independent arrival to your vessel. Blue Water Holidays
can assist with travel to Juneau. Drop your backpacks
in your cabin and come on deck for a scenic sailaway through
Juneau’s Gastineau Channel.

DAY 2
|
GLACIER BAY, SEA KAYAKING
Today the real adventure begins. Of the 350,000 visitors
to Glacier Bay each year, most arrive by large cruise
ships which travel the same route in and out of the Bay
in just one day. Your cruise adventure will be entirely
different.

| DAY 3 |
GLACIER BAY, SEA
KAYAKING
After a hearty breakfast, you begin your day of active
adventures. Head off in a small group with your Guide
leading the way. There is absolutely nothing like being
at “see-level’” in your kayak among
these pristine waters.

| DAY 4 |
GLACIER BAY CRUISING,
GLACIER BAY LODGE
A vacation can’t be all work, so today we relax
and enlist the MV Wilderness Explorer into service doing
what she was designed to do: explore the wilderness.
Today enjoy this Biosphere Reserve, World Heritage Site
and National Park from your comfortable floating base
camp. More than 100 glaciers cascade down the mountains
of the Bay forming a dramatic backdrop to the amazing
marine realm that surrounds your vessel. But what makes
the merely spectacular truly phenomenal is the concentration
of 9 active tidewater glaciers—some retreating,
some advancing, and some calving icebergs into picturesque
fjords. We make a brief port call at the Glacier Bay
Lodge.

| DAY 5 |
GLACIER BAY, SEA KAYAKING
After breakfast you are off again. Our Captain
and Crew are experts on outof- the-way places that offer
the greatest likelihood for discovery and adventure. On
the agenda today is Dundas Bay, an area of ancient forests
and calm waters and a perennial favorite of our Crew.
BLD |
| DAY 6 |
ICY STRAIT, SEA KAYAKING
After breakfast you have the biggest decision of the week
to make: kayak in this pristine waterway full of tiny
islets and isolated coves? Or hike an uninhabited island
for some backcountry exploration? You are in Icy Strait,
a prime spot for humpback whale watching.

| DAY 7 |
DISEMBARK JUNEAU & RETURN
HOME
Your active adventure cruise comes to an end at downtown
Juneau’s cruise dock. Disembark and your included
transfer will bring you to the airport.

| A note about published itineraries:
sailing in remote waters has special challenges and responsibilities.
Therefore we may occasionally alter itineraries slightly
for safety, or to take advantage of weather, wildlife
and unplanned discoveries. Our ability to be spontaneous
is a benefit you will never find on a larger ship. We
believe this makes our style of cruising unique in Alaska.
After all, wildlife pays no heed to human timetables;
why should we? |
